Rabbi Gideon Sylvester

Rabbi Gideon Sylvester is the British United Synagogue’s Israel Rabbi. Before that, he served as Rabbi of Radlett United Synagogue in London. He has worked as an adviser at the Office of the Prime Minister of Israel, and taught Torah and human rights to Israeli and American students. He currently teaches at Emunah V’Omanut (a midrasha for the study of Torah and the creative arts) and at the Secular Yeshiva. He also guides groups in Poland and Germany. His essay discussing the legitimacy of publicly criticising Israel was published in Morasha Kehillat Yaakov, the festschrift published by Maggid Books for Rabbi Sacks. He is currently studying towards a doctorate at Bar Ilan University.
