Dr. Alon Shalev is a Research Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute, contributing to both its Israeli and North American centres, and a Research Associate at the Jonathan Sacks Institute at Bar-Ilan University. His work focuses on the intersection of Jewish thought, moral and political philosophy, and contemporary public life, with particular attention to the crises of personal meaning and liberal-democratic politics.

Previously, Dr. Shalev served as Deputy Editor of Hashiloach, Israel's leading journal for ideas and public policy, and as a fellow at the Kohelet Policy Forum. He has taught in pre-army mechinot, gap-year programmes, and yeshivot, and completed a fellowship at Yale Divinity School's 'Life Worth Living' project. He is a regular speaker at institutions including the Mandel Institute and the Menachem Begin Heritage Centre, and appears on podcasts including For Heaven's Sake, 18Forty, and the Podcast of Jewish Ideas.
