In November, over 170 communities across five continents united for a Global Day of Learning in memory of Rabbi Jonathan Sacks zt”l, commemorating four years since his passing on 20 Marcheshvan 5780.

Communities from around the world - from Australia to Nigeria, Israel to Canada, Germany to Hong Kong - hosted learning sessions, lectures, discussions, and workshops in schools, universities, synagogues, and community centres. Each year, more communities join, and more people connect with and embrace Rabbi Sacks’ teachings. Participants studied his writings, reflected on his journey and influence, and discussed the relevance of his ideas in today’s world.

One of the central learning programmes took place at the National Library of Israel, with students from the Amit schools network in Israel, and gap year students from around the world, joining together to study Rabbi Sacks’ messages on the theme of “The People of the Book”.
