On 21 July 2025, Reut USA and The Rabbi Sacks Legacy hosted a landmark conference at UJA Federation of New York titled “The Great Diaspora: Visioning American Jewry at America’s 250th.” The gathering brought together over 100 prominent Jewish leaders, scholars, rabbis, and former U.S. officials to reflect on the condition and future of American Jewry at a pivotal moment in history.

Drawing inspiration from the teachings of Rabbi Sacks, the day featured high-level panels and roundtables on Jewish leadership, values, education, security, and identity. Speakers included former US Treasury Secretary Jack Lew, former White House speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz, CEO of the American Jewish Committee Ted Deutch, and Prof. Jonathan Sarna of Brandeis University. Among the speakers and participants were a number of Sacks Scholars, including Rabbi Joseph Beyda, Dr. Mijal Bitton, Mickey Flaumenhaft, Dr. Dodie Katz, Rabbi Daniel Kraus, Rabbi Dr. Dov Lerner, Rabbanit Karen Miller Jackson, and Rebbetzin Sarah Robinson.

From ancient Jewish diasporas to the national security of American Jewry, the conference laid out a bold agenda for American Jewish renewal ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.

Joanna Benarroch, President of The Rabbi Sacks Legacy, noted that “Rabbi Sacks believed that living as a global Jewish community gave us the chance to turn challenges into opportunities. This conference allowed us to forge new partnerships and establish actionable principles not just for American Jews, but for Jewish communities around the world.”
