God’s Presence
“The presence of God within a relationship prevents it becoming a struggle for dominance between two wills. Husband and wife must acknowledge the otherness of the other rather than seeing the other as a mirror image of themselves. Parents, despite the fact that they have brought a child into the world and nurtured and protected it in its early years, do not own the child. The presence of God in a relationship forces us to make space for the other.”
