Rabbi Sacks’ teachings are now available on OHRBIT, the new Orthodox Union AI-powered Torah app
When cutting-edge AI meets millennia of Torah wisdom, new possibilities for learning emerge. The Orthodox Union’s Torah Initiatives Department has launched OHRBIT, a free AI-powered app designed to make Torah learning more personalized, accessible, and engaging.
We are pleased to share that teachings from Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks are among the trusted learning resources now available on the platform, enabling users to explore Rabbi Sacks’ ideas as part of their ongoing Torah study.
Using AI to tailor Torah learning to individual interests and abilities, OHRBIT helps users discover material suited to their level and areas of curiosity. While designed with young professionals and college students in mind, the app is suitable for learners of all backgrounds and offers a flexible, user-friendly approach to Torah learning.
OU National Director of Community Engagement Rabbi Simon Taylor explains that the app’s name reflects its mission: “OHRBIT is meant to convey the idea of having all of Torah learning within one’s reach. It combines ohr (light) with bit (tech), symbolizing the fusion of technology and Torah. Users can engage with the app however they choose – whether for a quick daily insight or a deeper exploration of specific topics.”
OU Director of Jewish Media, Publications and Editorial Communications Rabbi Gil Student adds: “The project is an opportunity to take the best of technology that has transformed industries and use it to transform Torah learning.”
As the OU’s first AI-powered Torah app, OHRBIT combines the personalization familiar from platforms like Spotify or Amazon, the conversational experience of AI tools, and the structured learning style of language apps. Users can access text, audio, and video, track their learning, set goals and reminders, and build consistent learning habits.
The platform draws on a vast library of trusted Torah content, including decades of OU shiurim alongside material from partner organizations such as The Rabbi Sacks Legacy, OpenDor Media, and the United Synagogue in the UK.
