Dr. Malka Z. Simkovich holds the Crown-Ryan Chair of Jewish Studies and serves as the Director of the Catholic-Jewish Studies program at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Her scholarly contributions include two published books: “The Making of Jewish Universalism: From Exile to Alexandria” (2016) and “Discovering Second Temple Literature: The Scriptures and Stories That Shaped Early Judaism” (2018), which received the 2019 AJL Judaica Reference Honor Award. Dr. Simkovich’s forthcoming book, “Letters From Home: The Creation of Diaspora in Jewish Antiquity,” is scheduled for release in June 2024.

Beyond her role at CTU, she is a Leon Charney Fellow at the Yeshiva University Center for Israel Studies and a Kogod Research Fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute. Dr. Simkovich addresses audiences across North America and beyond on topics including the Hebrew Bible, Jewish history, and contemporary Jewish-Christian relations.
