Social Capital is Built on Loyalties

“Loyalty means sustaining our commitment to a person or a cause through the bad times as well as the good ones… Lasting relationships, marriage in particular, depend on loyalty. We are not freely floating atoms on an ocean of possibilities. We have attachments, to our family, our friends, our colleagues, our neighbours. Social capital, at all levels, is built out of loyalties. Without them, our whole personal world loses its richness and texture.”
