Yad Sarah, Israel’s largest nongovernmental social and healthcare service provider, received a wheelchair-accessible ambulance donated by the UK Friends of Yad Sarah in memory of Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks zt”l.

The unveiling ceremony was attended by Rabbi Sacks’ brothers, Brian, Alan, and Eliot, together with members of the UK Friends of Yad Sarah and the leadership team of Yad Sarah.

The vehicle will join Yad Sarah's fleet of wheelchair-accessible vehicles, which provided over 12,000 rides last year. Volunteer drivers offer transport services to hospital appointments, work, school, and recreational activities for individuals who have no other means of leaving their homes.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony, Eliot Sacks said, “My brother concluded his much-viewed TED Talk with the following words: ‘A nation is strong when it cares for the weak. It becomes rich when it cares for the poor. It becomes invulnerable when it cares about the vulnerable.’ It would be hard to think of an organisation that embodies these values more fully than Yad Sarah.”
