Graduation Day for the First Cohort
Share
This week our first cohort of Sacks Scholars came together online for a graduation ceremony as they completed an outstanding year of training. Over the past 12 months, these Scholars have not only learned from one another and from the faculty of educators and mentors, they have also been actively sharing the wisdom of Rabbi Sacks. Hundreds of sermons and Divrei Torah have been given by Sacks Scholars over the past year, and they have added their voices at schools, universities, shuls, community organisations, federations, podcasts, newspapers, radio, academic conferences, and - of course - online social media platforms. Here is a summarised roundup of the scope of their achievements so far:
- 8 Sacks Scholars taught in a different country
- 4 new books authored by Sacks Scholars
- 15 Sacks Scholars were guest online speakers to international audiences
- 13 Sacks Scholars gave LSJS Covenant & Continuity lectures
- 2 new conferences organised by Sacks Scholars are forthcoming
- 21 Sacks Scholars contributed to the Covenant & Conversation Family Edition series of 5783 and the Fragments of Light resources
- Over 50 published articles and blog posts authored by Sacks Scholars
- Tens of thousands around the world have learnt from our 26 Scholars
All in all, it has been an inspiring year, with a dedicated group of Sacks Scholars leading the way with passion, creativity, hard work and incredible achievements. Each Scholar was asked to design a unique project as a way of taking the teachings of Rabbi Sacks forward to the next generation, and the range and scope of their efforts and achievements has shown work a remarkable group of indiviiduals they are. As the second cohort of international Sacks Scholars prepare to embark on their own year-long journey, we have been overwhelmed with positive feedback from this first cohort. We know that this is only beginning of their journey, and we anticipate great things as they continue to make positive waves across the world.
